Outdoor Skating at Keystone Lake Ice Rink

With falling snow and a classic evergreen tree in the center, skating at Keystone Lake Ice Rink felt like we were skating inside a snow globe. The lake is so huge that it did not feel too crowded at all and the mountain views are amazing. The kids couldn’t get enough skating, even with the freezing temperature.

Keystone Lake 5-acres Ice Rink is the largest Zamboni-maintained natural outdoor ice rink in North America. It is located in the heart of Lakeside Village, right by Keystone Lodge and Spa. Skate rentals are available on-site at reasonable prices (about $15/adult and $10/child). If you have Epic Pass, you can use it to get 20% off rental prices.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. After skating, we warmed up with hot chocolate at the outdoor gazebo overlooking the rink, shopped for souvenirs at the gift shop, and spent some time appreciating the hand-carved ice sculptures.

The kids loved this place so much that we came back for the second time. On the first visit, we took the resort bus that conveniently stopped right in front of the Keystone Lodge lobby. The second time, we drove and parked across the street that was connected to the resort with an underground tunnel, which was pretty cool.

There is also another outdoor ice rink located at the base of River Run Village, called Dercum Square Ice Rink. We did not skate there, but we saw it and it looked nice there too. For more information about skating at Keystone Resort, visit their website here.

Tips

Call Ahead

Before your visit, call the Adventure Center to make sure that they are open. Sometimes, during heavy snow, the opening hours may vary because they have to resurface the rink.
