Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort Maui: A Complete and Honest Review For Families
For our recent family trip to Maui, we chose to stay at Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort. We had a few must-haves in mind for choosing a hotel in Maui: great location with an easy beach access where we could go snorkeling, comfortable rooms where we could all relax after a day of adventures, and a price that fit our budget. Read below for our full thoughts on staying at this resort.
First Impression
This resort is conveniently located steps away from Kaanapali beach, shops, and restaurants. The property seemed well-maintained, with clean grounds and tropical landscaping. Even better, the staff were friendly and welcoming, making check-in smooth and giving us tips to make the most of our stay. It immediately felt like a place where our family could relax and enjoy Maui.
Room and Comfort
We booked a partial-ocean-view room with 2 Queen beds. The room was clean, cozy, and spacious enough for our family of four. We had all the amenities we needed.
From our balcony, we had a view of the ocean to the left and the resort pool to the right. Being light sleepers, we never had any issues with noises at night.
It looked like the bathroom was recently remodeled and they provided plenty of towels and toiletries.
Kaanapali Beach and Black Rock
What we loved most about this resort is the close proximity to the beautiful Kaanapali Beach and Black Rock. They were practically in the resort’s backyard.
Our family loved snorkeling, and saw lots of sea turtles, crabs, and tropical fish near Black Rock.
The Pool
If there’s one thing that could be improved at this resort, it’s the pool. While clean and well-maintained, it’s small for the size of the property, which could be a challenge during busy times. A few years ago, when our kids were younger and spent hours at the pool, this might have been a deal breaker. Now that they’re older and more interested in exploring the island, it’s less of an issue.
The Staff and Service
One of the highlights of our stay was the staff. Everyone we met was warm, approachable, and genuinely helpful. They offered tips on local activities, making our family feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were especially touched at checkout, when the team surprised us with kukui nut leis and a mini ceremony. What a beautiful, personal touch that made our stay feel truly memorable. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort and would stay here again the next time we come to Maui.
