Muir Woods National Monument California

A Fantastic Day at Muir Woods and Muir Beach Overlook

Muir Woods National Monument in California is a must-visit place for nature lovers. As soon as we stepped into the park, we were surrounded by the incredible redwood trees, some over a thousand years old. The trails were mostly easy and the signs along the way let us learn cool facts about the redwoods. We also checked out nearby Muir Beach Overlook for a nice view of the Pacific Ocean.

The Cathedral Grove at Muir Woods

Our favorite area at Muir Woods was the Cathedral Grove located along the main trail. This section of the park features some of the tallest and oldest redwood trees, creating a canopy that filters sunlight into a serene, cathedral-like atmosphere.

Last tip: For a more peaceful experience, we recommend arriving before 9 am before the large crowd starts coming in.

After we left Muir Woods National Monument, we took a short drive to visit the Muir Beach Overlook. There was a walkway with stairs descending to the overlook, but it was short and easy. From the overlook, we were able to see the rocky California coastline and a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. It was worth visiting and a great addition to our visit to Muir Woods National Monument.
