Yoho National Park, located in the Rocky Mountains, is home to some of the best natural wonders in Canada. We walked around the serene Emerald Lake and visited the Natural Bridge. We also discovered the majestic Takakkaw Falls, Canada second-largest waterfall.
3 Favorite Places in Yoho National Park
Because we had a limited time to spend in Yoho National Park, we narrowed down our list to these top 3 places.
With a green-blue hue that resembles an emerald stone, Emerald Lake is a true jewel of the Canadian Rockies. It was peaceful and relaxing to walk around the lake and admire its beauty from different angles.
We arrived in the early morning, which was nice because it wasn’t too crowded. In addition, the morning sun created a mirror reflection of the lake’s surrounding peaks and evergreen trees. We took our time soaking in this truly serene scene.
Emerald Lake is one of the best places to rent a canoe and enjoy a peaceful paddling on the emerald-green water.
Later in the morning, we had a delicious brunch at Mount Burgess dining room, located inside Emerald Lake Lodge. From the dining room, we were able to dine while enjoying a view of Emerald Lake and Mount Burgess.
After visiting Emerald Lake, we went to see the Natural Bridge, which was only a short drive away. It is an amazing work of nature that was gradually formed over time to resemble a bridge. The Natural Bridge was easy to access. We parked our car in the parking lot and walked to the lookout point.
We were also able to view the Natural Bridge from a different angle by climbing on nearby rocks. From this viewpoint we were able to get a close-up view of the rapid, rushing water. The rocks can be slippery so please be careful when you step on them.
Later in the day, we visited the magnificent Takakkaw Falls, the second-tallest waterfall in Canada. We could see the waterfall from the parking area. However, we walked further to get right to the base of the waterfall, which was neat. We were able to feel the cooling mist from the milky water, and listen to the loud waterfall sound.
